In early 2006, the son of Zwatra's founder and then director-owner Til Kroes decided to sell the company.
He wanted to quit active management within 2-3 years. This led to the shares being transferred to the Arvo Group via a management buy-in at the end of December 2006. This takeover ended the Kroes family's association with the Zwatra company after more than 60 years.
In 2015, the Boerman Groep and Zwatra managements entered into talks with each other, resulting in Zwatra joining the Boerman Groep, as the fifth company, on 19 February 2016.
